Off-white terrazzo, neutral tones which take nothing from the natural beauty all around, traditional Balinese thatched roofing and vast ceilings..... extravagant four-poster beds with nets, huge and magnificent indoor/outdoor bathrooms with luxury Aveda products, European tapware.....imported mattresses, pure white Egyptian cotton sheets, thick white cotton bath sheets and pool towels..... four enormous king pillows per bed (including feather), air-conditioning and fans..... a dining table in the open pool-side pavilion which can seat fourteen, and a bar overlooking the river and pool with its palest of aquamarine water..... food which is fresh and deliciously simple, good wines and fabulous cocktails..... sensual massages. These are all features of this beautifully private villa. Two to eight guests are accommodated in equal style and splendour, your king rooms all opening directly to the pool, the lush gardens, the tropical jungle beyond and the river below.
The staff at Villa Sungai Bali are there to pamper and please. They include a manager who will help you plan, make your bookings and drive you wherever you choose, whatever the time of day or night. He can make bookings in the best-known restaurants, he can make bookings in some of the more unusual and unique. He can book you an adventure, be it white water rafting or bicycle riding. The staff (our guests find them highly engaging) will tend to your every need, bringing you drinks by the pool, attending to your laundry (this is included in the tariff), organising poolside massages, arranging all your meals if you choose. Delicious meals are prepared by the chef and her staff from ingredients purchased for you at cost (full tropical and cooked breakfasts are included in the tariff). Unlike many villas, guests do not have to prepare their own meals. Also unlike most private villas, well-priced local, French and Australian wines, local beers, mixers and wonderful cocktails are all made available. BYO spirits and wines are welcomed at the bar, and yet bar service is available at all times. The chef is available full-time, and not just on call. It is hardly surprising that Villa Sungai’s guests dine in, on average, for 75% of the time.
In keeping with the highest international standards, rooms are serviced twice daily, with turn-down every evening, when fresh towels and bottled water are also replenished. Amenities you will find in your room include hairdryers, make-up mirrors, sarongs for use poolside, slippers and luxury Aveda soaps, shampoos, conditioners and shower caps.
Dinner and cocktail parties are something the villa specialises in. They can be as formal, as glamorous or as casual as you choose.
Villa Sungai’s private little world of tranquillity and indulgence lies in the midst of the traditional village of Cepaka. Village and villa are set, jewel-like, in a dramatic setting of the volcanoes of Bali, with emerald terraces of rice, tropical forests and ancient temples all around.
Cepaka lies safely beyond the urban sprawl which has overrun Kuta Beach and Seminyak – yet it is still close to Bali’s fabled attractions, including its diverse and vibrant night-life. Popular tourist destinations like Kintamani, Tanah Lot and Ubud are easily reached. Villa Sungai Bali is discreetly hidden between the exquisite village temple and the river's edge in this charming village, a place which exemplifies the enchanting Bali of tradition.
